12TH INTERNATIONAL LIGHTING GUERRILLA FESTIVAL: COLOURS

Opening > Friday, 11th May 2018, at 21.30

Ljubljana

In the time of the 12th edition of the international Lighting Guerrilla festival, Ljubljana will again come to life with a series of light installations that will illuminate its city centre.

press-fotka-ležeče copyMarko Batista will present his new project entitled Colours in Motion. It is an interactive light-musical project that enables the audience to create their peculiar sound and visual environments in a playful way by means of different sensors and controllers. This kind of interactivity represents both an artistic and technological challenge since the idea is for the audience to be able to affect the moving visual images and contribute to the electronic sound landscape in real time.

FLUID PARTICLES OF VULCANIC ASH

19 10 2017

Cultural Centre TOBAČNA 001, Ljubljana
Opening of the exhibition will be on Friday, 27 October at 7 p.m.

The exhibition Fluid Particles of Volcanic Ash is part of a multiannual project in which Marko Batista prompts the viewer to reflect on the problem of modern post-fact society in relation to technological progress. Technological systems are not perfect, predictable, self-contained and complete, but rather unstable, and it is precisely this point that serves as the premise of Batista’s exploration.

‘ART IN PUBLIC SPACE” EVENT

The intermedia project entitled Locus:303 originates from the installation Electronic Church by Marko Batista and Srdjan Deba (production Aksioma 2014, coproduction Forum Ljubljana) from 2014. It is an electroacoustic light sculpture that intervenes in the medieval architecture of the space.

The installation is a part of the ‘Art in Public Space’ event with the aim “… to emphasize the signifcance of contemporary art and to show its importance in public. The desire is to establish an equal partnership with urban planners and architects, as well as other creators of the public sphere. It is about connecting the elements between disciplines, between theoretical standpoints and practical use, between academic concepts and actual efectiveness” says curator Matena Bassin.

TEMPORARY OBJECTS AND HYBRID AMBIENTS

Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Koroška, Slovenia

solo exhibition

.dedicated to my mother.

The exhibition entitled Temporary Objects and Hybrid Ambients responds to the exhibition space of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Koroška and it works as an integral work of art, which makes it possible for the viewer, depending on his position in space, to get an audio-visual impression of the whole or of the individual modular objects. As regards content, the projects are divided into three exhibition clusters distinguished by the basic principle of “operation”.12158662035_fa636dd341_b

The artist’s installations reveal his specific relationship to technology, which, on the one hand, he demystifies by using “low-tech” elements and by visualising its processes, while on the other hand, he introduces the element of the unknown and he moves on the cusp between controlled and chaotic modular systems.12159465066_7959445d30_b
